Come Holy Spirit

“Come, Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your well-beloved Spouse.”

This is a beautiful prayer invoking the Holy Spirit through the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is often prayed before or after each Mystery of the Rosary.

By saying this prayer, we acknowledge the Holy Spirit’s role as our Paraclete and Comforter. We honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as the beloved Spouse of the Holy Spirit and in doing so, we glorify God and recognize the close union between the Holy Spirit and Mary.

St. Louis de Montfort beautifully expressed this connection in his book, True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, #36. “When the Holy Spirit, her spouse, finds Mary in a soul, he hastens there and enters fully into it. He gives himself generously to that soul according to the place it has given to his spouse.”

As we approach Pentecost, let’s invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts by renewing our consecration to Mary. Just as a married couple becomes one flesh, Mary’s union with the Holy Spirit is profound and powerful.

May the Holy Spirit fill us with His gifts and guide us always!
